The two largest airports in Italy are Rome Fiumicino (FCO) and Milan Malpensa (MXP). Other major airports are located in Naples (NAP) and Venice (VCE). We recommend flying with a Star Alliance or Skyteam member airline. Examples include KLM, Air France, Turkish Airlines, United, and Delta. It is typically cheaper to fly in and out Monday - Thursday. Try to avoid weekend and Friday flights.

Italy has an extensive railway and bus system, making it easy to get around. You can look at prices for routes between cities on the trenitalia website. This is a cheaper alternative to renting a car.

Getting to the Shuttle from Florence’s Santa Maria Novella Train Station
If you're arriving by train at Santa Maria Novella (SMN) Station, the easiest way to reach the airport is by tram:

Take the T2 tram from "Alamanni - Stazione SMN" (right outside the train station) to "Aeroporto Peretola"

Cost: Only €1.50
Time: About 20 minutes (trams run every 5-10 minutes)
Tickets: Buy at the ticket machines inside the tram stop (cash or card)

How to Find the Shuttle Pickup Location
If you’re arriving from the airport, once you exit the terminal and go outside, the meeting point is in the parking area to the left.
If you’re coming from the city center by tram, the meeting point is in the parking area directly in front of the tram stop.
What to Do If You Arrive Early
If you arrive 20 minutes before the scheduled departure time:
At the Tram Station: While there are no benches or seating areas at the tram stop itself, you can find shaded spots nearby to wait comfortably.
Inside the Airport: There are seats, food, drinks, and air conditioning/heating for your comfort.

The shuttle will leave on time, so please be at the pickup spot to load at least 10 minutes before departure.

Helpful Tips
- Give yourself extra time in case of unexpected delays.
- If you’re prone to motion sickness, we highly recommend taking a motion sickness pill (such as Dramamine or travel sickness tablets) at least 30 minutes before boarding the shuttle.
- Enjoy the scenery! The ride takes you through the stunning Tuscan countryside.
- We will have a dedicated person at the airport that will be gathering everyone and make sure that you make it safely to the castle.
